Studying a different course at university?

hi, i am interested in knowing if it is possible to study a different course at university, to the one which you studied at college. for example, i did a B-TEC national diploma in ICT at college (and passed, therefore amassing a lot of UCAS points), but would like to study a journalism course at university. so, lads, is it possible to study a course at university that is entirely different to the one which is studied at college? and if not, how would i go about studying journalism?
